It’s time for another update on my 2022 goals! I’ve been super busy these past couple months, and more productive than I’ve been in a while. It’s a good feeling.
The first half of 2022 has been chaotic, but I’ve somehow kept my motivation up. In fact, more than ever I’ve felt compelled to extract every idea out of my head that I can, and bring it to fruition. Keeping my perfectionism in check really helps with that.
With that, here’s a mid-year update on how my 2022 goals are going. Thanks for following along!
My 11 New Year’s Goals for 2022
1. Visit 8 New Places

Here are the new places I’ve visited so far in 2022:
- Ireland
- Northern Ireland
- Copenhagen, Denmark
- Cherry Blossom Trees at Wade Lagoon in Cleveland
- Ice cave and glacier lagoon in Iceland
- Memphis, Tennessee
- Cape Cod, Massachusetts
- Plymouth, Massachusetts
2. Snuggle My Dog

I give my small boy, Bennie, snuggles as often as he’ll let me. He is an independent fella who likes his space. I usually try to catch him at night, when he’s too tired to care.
3. Paint Our Upstairs Hallway
This is still on the to-do list, and I’m hoping for this summer. Where does the time go? And why do upstairs hallways have to be so tricky to paint??
4. Bake Homemade Bread
At the beginning of the year, I was on a role with watching my husband make homemade white bread. I basically let him do all the work, and eat it when it’s done. For now, we are taking a summer hiatus.
5. Bake French Pastries
Pastries are more my domain. So far this year, I’ve made the following:
- Uneven puff pastry
- Delicious pastry cream
- Misshapen but otherwise successful pâte à choux
- Crème brûlée (although this isn’t actually in the cookbook)
While not French, I did partake in a Danish pastry class while in Copenhagen, which was super fun!
6. Continue Studying French

I still love Duolingo, and have been getting after it most days. I currently have a 25-day streak going! I’ve also been fairly consistent with flash cards, although traveling can make that a little harder for me.
My biggest improvement has been finally hiring a French tutor to practice speaking with. This is something I’ve never done before, so it’s definitely been challenging. Challenge is good though, and it’s the only way to get to the next level.
Otherwise, I continue to watch French Youtube videos almost every day, and my listening comprehension has improved considerably. This post lists which are my favorite channels, as well as the other resources I’ve been using. I won’t be fluent in the near future, but I currently know more French than I ever have!
7. Read 12 Books

I’ve finished two books, and am in the middle of reading three others:
- Reread Tiny Beautiful Things by Cheryl Strayed
- Dear Haiti, Love Alaine by Maika Moulite and Maritza Moulite
- Little Women by Louisa May Alcott – still reading
- The Way of Wanderlust by Don George – still reading
- How to Be A Travel Writer by Don George – still reading
8. Post 52 Blog Posts

This is my biggest goal for 2022. Consistency is so important in blogging, and I’ve never managed to publish one post a week over an entire year before.
That’s why I got rid of my old “post once a week” goal, and instead am shooting for 52 total posts, regardless of when they are published. There are some times of the year when it’s very difficult to post regularly, and others when I have much more time. I’m focusing on productivity over perfectionism.
I’ve actually come a long way on this goal. After getting incredibly behind at the beginning of the year, I’ve really stepped up my game since April. So far, I have completed 18 posts, or 34.62% of my goal. This one makes 19.
9. Take at Least One Solo Trip

So far this year, I have traveled solo to Copenhagen. It was an awesome experience, full of beautiful castles and colorful waterfronts. I even found adorable shops where I could buy some local yarn.
10. Buy a New Phone
Done! This was so needed. I have a much better camera now and a lot more storage space than I did before. My old phone was starting to act up when doing just about anything, so I am happy to have an upgrade.
I have also invested in a new desk chair! Finally, I have a real chair with actual support, instead of the cute, but flimsy one that was making my back hurt.
Maybe one day I’ll get my hands on a new computer…
11. Visit One New State
I still haven’t visited a new state. Now it’s about halfway through the year and I continue to have nothing planned. I have been putting thought to this though, and will hopefully have something soon…

I’ve kept my head down while focusing on producing, so it’s always nice to pause and reflect on what I’ve accomplished so far. All I want to do is keep the momentum going, and get these posts out of my head and onto the screen.
I wish you the best of luck and positive energy in whatever you are endeavoring to do right now! Remember – the only way to fail is if you stop trying.
What do you hope to accomplish this summer?
