It’s the second half of December now, and finally time to reflect on how the year went. As you may have seen, I set a bunch of goals for myself earlier this year, some of which I’ve actually achieved. Since I gave an update a couple months back, it only seems right to give a final rundown of everything. Were my goals realistic? Did I give up on any? Did I accomplish any more? I’m covering it all!
As a recap, here are the goals I’ve already crossed off my list this year:
- Pretty up our backyard
- Pay off our kitchen
- Pay off living room furniture
- Have a home office set up
- Buy a new camera lens
You can check out my 9 month update for more detail on these.
Here is the status of my remaining 2019 Goals:
Pay Off My Car
Technically this was not allowed (by my husband) to be an official goal for 2019. Fair enough, since we were focusing on paying off two other debts at the time.
However, I still make a monthly payment towards my car every month, and now have less than a year left until it’s totally gone! Is it okay to put this as a goal on my list for 2020, even though I already know it will be paid off?
Doesn’t matter – I’m gonna do it.
Complete the Cleveland Brewery Passport
Before I really checked, I was thinking we only managed to complete a couple more breweries since my last check-in. Turns out, we’ve been busier (and tipsier) than I thought. We have now completed 18 breweries off this passport. That’s eight more than before! We still have plenty of work to do, but are finally past the halfway point of visiting all 34 breweries.

Finish Furnishing Our Living Room
Since my last update, we bought two new chairs to put near our faux fireplace. We actually hadn’t planned on making this purchase at all this year. Actually, we had been planning on buying two chairs from Pottery Barn next year, which would have made our wallets sad.
As luck would have it, we ended up running into chairs at World Market that were exactly what we wanted, but at a fraction of the price. We swooped them up immediately, just in time for Thanksgiving.
We’d still like a new entertainment center and TV at some point, but our bank account is feeling a little tired right now. We’re gonna let it rest for a bit.

Be Able to do Crow Pose
I still can’t really do crow pose, but I do have a positive update on this! Last time, I admitted that I hadn’t been to yoga in months. That is no longer true!
After a very busy time at work ended, I finally had time to think about the other things going on in my life. My 30th birthday is approaching next month, and I realized I was headed into my next decade in the worst shape I’d been in a while. I’m not talking about weight or skinniness, but honestly just fitness in general. I wanted to feel better and more like myself again.
Finally, I started taking action. I’ve been doing workouts two to three times a week on my Tone It Up fitness app, and signing up for two yoga classes a week. I am noticing the strength gains after two months, and it feels awesome! I’m working to continue my momentum, primarily focusing on how good working out makes me feel.
If I keep this up, perhaps crow pose could be in my future?
Write One Blog Post a Week
I’ve been continuing to put forth my best effort with posting to my blog every single week. I managed to keep up from October until Thanksgiving, which is where I missed a week. I did jump right back into it though, and am working double time in December.
I have a goal this month to create 10 blog posts. Five would be published in December, with the rest scheduled for January. I’ve managed six so far, and still going…
With the holidays, things have gotten a bit crazy. However, I am just going to keep moving and stay positive. We’ll see how far I get!
Read One Book a Month
I only just finished reading On Writing by Stephen King, so there is no update on this one unfortunately. However, I did realize I left one book off my list last time. I had gotten mostly through The Four Agreements back in February, and then put it down for tax season. It’s kind of an easy read, so I may be able to finish this by the end of the year.
That would leave me at six books read, or one every two months. I’ll take it.
Get to “Level 2” in Italian and French
As mentioned before, my attempt at Italian is pretty much shelved for now. I have studied some more French, but had to put that aside for now too to focus on the holidays and blogging.
That being said, I have major goals for learning French in 2020, and don’t be surprised if you see more about that on the blog next year.

Well, it’s been quite a year, and I feel like I’ve accomplished a lot. To be clear, I don’t expect perfection from myself, but only to keep the needle moving forward. Things can definitely get crazy sometimes, but I love it and wouldn’t have it any other way, except for maybe more sleep. But that’s a project for 2020…
